Raising Our Light: Community Response

"What an amazing event! From the perspective of a participant, the event was moving, well organized, stayed on schedule and guests left with nourished souls and bellies.

I was so grateful to have the option of the shuttle service. Rather than risking the traffic in Montecito, I took the shuttle from the zoo and it was perfect!

Once at the park, I found my friends, collected my candle and the lovely program began.  Lauren Cantin's Amazing Grace and the children singing This Little Light of Mine were the highlights."

It was hard to imagine that the mud and debris flow traveled the very road where we now walked.
The beacon of light at All Saints was magical.
"The walk down the middle of San Ysidro Rd under the clear and star-filled sky, surrounded by members of the community carrying candles and their heartfelt care, towards the beacon of light at All Saints was magical.

It was hard to imagine that the mud and debris flow traveled the very road where we now walked.

Once at the church, members of the crowd, with a warm cup of soup in their hands, visited with neighbors and friends remembering their experience on January 9, 2018, and where they are today.

The overall atmosphere was filled with gratitude.  It felt so good to be part of this resilient and recovering community."
